Kitchen Teacup Organization for $3.00

Every morning I arise before dawn and rustle around in my kitchen to prepare a cup of hot tea.

Ever since I created a wall of plates and used all of my teacup saucers I have been unable to stack the cups like this:

So the cups have become like a leaning tower of teasa.

During one of my early morning quests my sleep induced hands were not quick enough to capture one of Grandma Mary’s teacups when it jumped to its death via the means of my ceramic tiled floor.

So began my search for teacup storage. I found racks similar to this, but thought “Uh, no thanks.”

I loved this idea but my home/kitchen is an open floor plan. One wall has cabinets and the other has windows so that means I have zero wall space in my kitchen.

So this wouldn’t work either.

Cruising around Pinterest I found the following teacup inspiration.

 

But none of the darling offerings really solved my problem.

I then spotted and loved Jennifer Rizzo’s French bottle rack of teacups but when trying to locate a rack of my own the budget cried foul. Plus I really didn’t have the counter space.

Then I spied this heart stopping bit of bliss on the Anthro site. But at $1,800.00 this chandelier made the antique French bottle rack seem like a bargain. So I put the image in my DIY file knowing full well that it might take me awhile to collect the elements to build it. 

Last week I was cruising the aisles of Goodwill when I came upon a vintage white wire rack. I am well familiar with such space saving delights, available at any Wal Mart or Target, but this one was different.  It had a carousel in the center for ….yes, heavens parting… birds singing… teacups.

Have you ever seen such a piece of wire storage? I haven’t and I greedily want more.

Because lurking behind this teapot are more teacups.

But until I get the Anthro teacup holder built perhaps this will suffice:
