Friday Freebie

Recently, I was contacted by Tina of Garden Goose. She asked if I had a chance to view some of her husband's fantastic vinyl decals at his Etsy shop. I adore decals so I took a peak and fell in love!

The designer of the decals is Paul Wilson. He is extremely talented. Paul began his career in sign shops and went on to work at a newspaper and then for the Air Force developing publications, magazines and other printed media. His last job was as a marketing director. It was not the best fit for Paul as he longed for "hands on" design work. Lucky for us he gave it all up to become a freelance designer.

The decals are so easy to apply and many are repositionable. Several of the decals are also available in a wide variety of colors.

Isn't this train so realistic? There are several other designs that would be perfect for a child's room.

This vintage cowgirl just speaks to me. I would look for an old frame at a flea market and hang it over the image.

The decals are perfect for individuals who may be renting or don't want to commit to permanent images on their walls. They are also quite reasonable and start at $2.50.

Paul has graciously offered to give away a beautiful chandelier decal to one lucky Decor to Adore reader. Please visit his Etsy site and take a look. Then leave ONE comment telling us what your favorite decal image is. I will select a winner on Monday , March 30th.

Good luck and thank you Paul!
UPDATE: The random number generator selected Carrie of Oak Rise Cottage as the winner. Congratulations Carrie! I can't wait to see where you hang your chandelier.

Peep Show~ The Finale!

When I was a little girl I remember my Grandma Mary making sure I had a new spring dress and shoes. Everything had to be fresh and pretty Easter Sunday. I miss the days of ladies in their hats, gloves and corsages.

But corsages don't have to languish in dresser drawers. They look so pretty when pinned to a pillow.
Tie a corsage onto the back of a chair. While I tied on this one I had an epiphany of creating an entire door wreath of corsages. How pretty would that be?
Sing with me.... "In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it....." I wear a hat to church every Easter. Sadly, I am often the only adult female to do so. But, I am going to tell you a secret. The men love it. I always get so many compliments and hear over and over "I wish my wife would wear a hat." Ladies, get yourselves to a chapeau shoppe!
When I lived in the South there was a brand of ice cream called Blue Bunny. I think this corsage is just as sweet and easier on the waistline.
Here's a corsage to celebrate the Savior's birth.
Star of the Peep Show.

One preppy chick~!

This corsage features a vintage egg and peep I restored from the stash I found here.

Another vintage egg on yummy gossamer ribbon.

I hope you have enjoyed the Peep Show Series. All of the corsages can be found in my Etsy shoppe.

Peep Show part deux

It has been a virtual sweatshop here at the Decor to Adore manor. I have been working with the Easter bunny to create some new designs that fit perfectly in a plastic egg. Would you like to see?

A little something new are these embellished bobby pins. Prices begin at $5.00 a set.

Springtime necklaces for Easter Sunday and beyond.

This little girls bracelet features a rare rabbit's head charm. Too cute!

How about some Easter basket charms?

Doesn't this remind you of a picnic?

Other new items are these embellished hair combs.

They are all available in my Etsy shoppe and many more are currently being created.
Please stop back by for Friday Frebbie!

Peep Show

I recently came across a bag containing an assortment of eggs and a gorgeous tin filled with all sorts of pretty Easter goodness.

At the very bottom of the tin were these postcards. I love to read the messages on the back and wonder about the people who received them.

On top of the postcards I found an assortment of bunnies and peeps.

Aren't these fun? I am using a few things in the Easter and Mother's Day corsages that I am currently creating. I hope to have them in my Etsy shoppe by the weekend. I'll keep you posted.

This photo should be entitled "The Blind and the Beakless"

I have never seen anything like these bunny girls, have you? One of the orange and blue girls will be looking for a new home via the Etsy shoppe. The rest will be a surprise in the Fashionista's basket. It is just her sort of thing.

Everything got a steam bath and small repair jobs via the glue gun.

I then began looking at the eggs. Several were missing their tops or bottoms and were in rough shape.

The old German paper mache eggs always have the most vibrant images.

I thought about the sugared eggs of my childhood that would have a tiny scene within their midst. An "A~ha" moment occurred. I decided to make a hanging egg filled with all sorts of bits and bobs. I used an upholstery needle to make the top hole.

I am currently paired in a Easter swap with someone who loves vintage kitch, bright colors and polka dots. Think she'll like it?

Sweet boy saw me creating the egg and asked if I would make him one. His favorite color right now is green.

Of course if I make an egg for Sweet Boy, then the Fashonista has to have one as well. I added a pearl necklace to her bunny. Tres chic non?

Humming bird update:
I hung the eggs on the climbing roses in our backyard which I entered via the garage so I wouldn't disturb Lil' Momma. We have been worried about her nest as there have been tremendous wind storms in our area. Happily, she built her nest well and was able to hang on during her wild ride.

Hummingbird Happiness

Through the magic of "Post Options" I am able to wish you all a very "Happy Spring" while on my bloggy break.

This is currently the view from our back door featuring a very dirty patio chandelier that hangs above our patio table. I had set out to do a bit of spring cleaning earlier in the week and found a little something that said it would have to wait. (Oh darn!)

The following images feature a different angle taken through the glass doors. The quality is a bit poor, but I know you forgive me as you probably wouldn't want to disturb such a wee mother either.

Yes, a hummingbird has created the tiniest nest imaginable on top of our chandelier. (My kind of bird!) Sweet boy has christened her "Lil' Mama".

The back door has become off limits for the next 40 days as we want Lil’ Mama to feel secure. She doesn’t seem to mind when I open the door a crack and let Rudi the doxie out. (Maybe because he is so low to the ground~smile.) But, she does panic if we try to step outside. Luckily, we have access to the back yard via the garge that we can use.

What a blessing it is to enjoy such a wonderful creature everyday.
I'll keep you posted on Lil' Mama's progress when I return from my bloggy break on Friday, March 27th with a Friday Freebie.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

A comical Irish curse:

May those who love us love us.
And those that don't love us,
May God turn their hearts.
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
May he turn their ankles,
So we'll know them by their limping.

A favorite Irish blessing:
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

I hope you have enjoyed the "All Things Irish" series.
I have just finished midterms and am set to enjoy spring break with my family.
I will return to blogging on Friday, March 27th with a fun Friday Freebie.

All Things Irish~ Festive Fare

Green is my favorite color. I love to set the table for St. Patrick's Day dinner. Great centerpieces are bowls of green apples, or green clippings and flowers from your own backyard.

You can create mini votives by coring an apple and adding a candle.

I love the elegant simplicity of this Celtic tablecloth created with a stencil and fabric paint.

If my children are good, a leprechaun might leave a few gold coins sprinkled next to their place setting.

Continuing the simple theme is the sweet addition of a single clover into a twine tined napkin.
Colcannon, a traditional Irish potato dish, is enhanced by a few drops of green food coloring.

The menu also includes corned beef and cabbage. I always make enough for corned beef sandwiches the next day~yum!

I adore Irish Soda bread. My family prefers that the caraway seed and currents not be added.

Mr. Decor loves this part of the meal. This year we might try some green beer..

The perfect finishing touch for a house full of chocoholics is chocolate Irish creme cheesecake.

Will you be making a St. Patrick's Day feast?
